The talented youngster has proven that he could play in a deep role or as a box-to-box midfielder, but his ability playing in the traditional ‘number 8’ role is exactly what England need alongside Rice and Bellingham.

Lack of Depth
England has a significant lack of depth in the midfield area, with nobody really claiming the third midfield spot next to Rice and Bellingham, so Mainoo could cement that role for the foreseeable future if he keeps up the impressive form.
