After years of falling short in the Champions League, Paris Saint-Germain finally achieved their long-term goal of lifting the UCL trophy in 2024/25, with Luis Enrique’s side capping a fantastic campaign with a 5-0 win against Inter Milan in the final – the biggest-ever win in the Champions League final.
Now, the reigning champions are on the verge of lifting back-to-back Champions League trophies, with only challengers Arsenal standing in their way.
PSG have had another remarkable campaign in this competition, including producing one of the most memorable ties in history as they defeated Bayern Munich 6-5 on aggregate in the semi-finals.
PSG have also defeated the likes of Barcelona (2-1), Bayer Leverkusen (7-2), Chelsea (8-2 on aggregate) and Liverpool (4-0 on aggregate) on their route to the final, showcasing their extraordinary attacking ability.
Enrique’s side were victorious the last time these two met, securing a 3-1 aggregate victory against the Gunners in last season’s Champions League semi-finals, with a 1-0 first-leg win followed by a 2-1 second-leg triumph.
PSG will also have the advantage of being out of action since their last Ligue 1 game of the season on 17 May, meaning Enrique’s side have had almost two weeks of rest and recovery time before the final.
Arsenal, meanwhile, were last in action on 24 May, when they defeated Crystal Palace 2-1 on the final day of the English Premier League season, with that win capping a fantastic year that saw the Gunners lift the league title for the first time in over 20 years.
That win extended Arsenal’s winning run to five matches across all competitions, featuring a narrow 1-0 win in the second-leg of their eventual 2-1 aggregate victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals.
Earlier in the competition, Arsenal have also defeated the likes of Atletico Madrid (4-0 in the league phase), Bayern Munich (3-1) and Inter Milan (3-1).
While PSG have undoubtedly been the best attacking side in the competition, scoring 44 goals, Arsenal are by some distance the strongest defensive team, conceding just six goals on their route to the final – and they will be hoping that defensive strength can help lead them to their first-ever Champions League trophy on Saturday.

Paris Saint-Germain head into the final without only two players, with Lucas Chevalier and youngster Quentin Ndjantou unavailable due to injury issues, although Achraf Hakimi is a slight doubt.
Elsewhere, having had nearly two weeks of rest and recovery ahead of the final, Enrique will be able to name a full strength first 11 for this game, including the stunning midfield trio of Joao Neves, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz.
Meanwhile, Arsenal will be without Ben White due to a knee injury, while Christian Norgaard, Jurrien Timber and Noni Madueke are all slight doubts with injury concerns.
Myles Lewis-Skelly has replaced Martin Zubimendi alongside Declan Rice in midfield in recent weeks, and the youngster will be hoping to retain his place in the final.
