The UEFA Champions League returns today with round five, marking the start of the second half of the group stage. As teams fight for positions in the qualifying places, the stakes are beginning to grow as the league phase draws closer to its end.
We take a closer look at a number of the matches and picking out our top tips and best booking code (odds at time of writing):
Sporting vs Arsenal
Sporting are coming into this game on the back of a superb 4-1 win against Manchester City in their last UCL fixture, and they have since recorded 4-2 and 6-0 wins in domestic matches, leaving them with huge confidence heading into this one.
Arsenal come into this game needing a victory to put them back in the automatic qualification places, currently sitting 12th with seven points, but their confidence will be boosted after securing their first win after four without victory last time out, beating Nottingham Forest 3-0.
It should be a tight game but Sporting currently possess the most in-form striker in Europe, with Viktor Gyokeres on 33 goals in 25 matches for club and country in 2024/25, including five in the UCL so far. It will be hard to bet against the Swedish striker scoring once again tonight, at 2.50.
Viktor Gyokeres to score anytime, 2.50
Bayern Munich vs PSG
After enjoying a sensational first year in Germany last year, scoring 44 times and assisting 12 in 45 appearances across all competitions, Harry Kane has continued his form into the opening parts of his second season with Bayern Munich.
Kane has netted an unbelievable 20 times and assisted seven more in just 17 appearances so far this campaign, including a hat-trick against Augsburg in his last outing.
With PSG looking defensively vulnerable at times this year, especially in the Champions League where they have conceded five in four games, we believe Kane will score here.
Harry Kane to score anytime, 1.85
Inter vs Leipzig
Inter have enjoyed a brilliant start to their league phase campaign, sitting fifth in the table without defeat, winning three and drawing one of their four games, while they remain as one of just two teams yet to concede in any of the games.
While they have only scored six times, they are clearly capable of plenty more in the attacking phase, presented by their 31 goals in 13 Serie A games, and they will fancy their chances against a Leipzig side that have struggled thus far.
Leipzig are 32nd in the league phase table with four losses from their four games, conceding nine times already. With this, we believe Inter will secure the win here with plenty of goals.
Inter to win & over 2.5 goals, 1.85
Manchester City vs Feyenoord
Manchester City have had a torrid time in recent outings, losing all of their last five matches across all competitions heading into this one, the first time Pep Guardiola has ever suffered this in his career. Those defeats include massive losses to Sporting, 4-1, and Tottenham Hotspur, 4-0, leaving them extremely low on confidence heading into this one.
However, with a crucial game against Liverpool at Anfield coming next weekend, Man City will be desperate to get back to winning ways here, and they should certainly fancy their chances at home against Feyenoord.
The visitors have won two and lost two of their Champions League games, already conceding a massive 10 goals, a defensive vulnerability which should help Man City secure the win here and end their losing streak.
Manchester City to win & over 2.5 goals, 1.50
